Fluevog To Unlock ‘Dr. Henry’ Sneakers As COVID-19 Fundraiser
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A limited-edition shoe honouring Dr. Bonnie Henry will be released by a Vancouver designer with proceeds going to the fight against COVID-19.
John Fluevog Shoes designed the “Dr. Henry” shoes, with provincial health officer’s permission of course, and is donating all of the proceeds from the pre-sale to Food Banks BC.
About Fluevog
John Fluevog is a Canadian shoe designer. According to the promotional material published by the company, he began his career working for Sheppard’s Shoes in Vancouver in the 1960s. In 1970, he and a co-worker Peter Fox began their own shoe store. The shoes are described as “progressive, art deco” inspired.
The company claims that the shoes are designed in Vancouver, and manufactured in Portugal, Mexico, Peru, China and Vietnam according to the company’s website. The shoes often include messages engraved into the soles, the most famous being from The 7th Heaven Family, whose Angel Soles read: Resists alkali, water, acid, fatigue and Satan.

The company says Henry — an “avid Fluevoger” — has been a constant source of “knowledge and reassurance” throughout the pandemic, earning her the admiration of many, including John Fluevog himself.
“At times like these, we’re so fortunate to have someone who is calm and comforting but direct, and positive but realistic, informing and educating us day today. We always like to find ways to help, and to highlight those who are doing good in our world. To hear about and see that our admiration for Dr. Henry was mutual was just a beautiful cherry on top of an already great idea sundae,” says John Fluevog.

The shoes will be available later this month and include Henry’s words, “be kind, be calm and be safe,” stamped inside.
Henry has been seen sporting the brand at some of her daily COVID-19 updates.
In recent weeks songs and fan pages for Henry have sprung up online as well as a mural of her in downtown Vancouver.
